I admit, I’ve been loured by the siren-song of Carbon offsets before. I want to minimize my impact on the world, but there are just sometimes when I need to use a car or take flights (I’m not about to give up Christmas in Manitoba). So, being able to “offset” those uses is desirable, but silly. You can’t undo that damage. If I want to cut down on my emissions, I should be making lifestyle changes, not paying someone to plant trees in Zimbabwe.
