If you haven’t The Story of Stuff yet, go and watch it. It’s only about 20 minutes long, and well worth your time.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about changing our consumption patterns. In Vancouver, one of the 2 garbage dumps is about to close. There is no desire to create another landfill, so other solutions are being explored. Instead of creating a green bin program that could divert tons of waste, the government looks poised to instead use incineration as the solution. Burning our garbage however is very dangerous and does nothing to get people to change their consumption patterns nor does it force companies to change how they make and package goods.
Another video worth watching is Al Gore’s most recent talk given at TED about the climate crisis.
Lastly, the stupidest bike lanes in the world.
