A few weekends ago, we booked a Modo car, loaded up our camping gear, and drove out to Manning Provincial Park for the weekend.
We did a few light hikes – Three Falls, Lightning Lake, and the Wildflower Walk.
We relaxed by the fire and cooked good vegan food.
We stayed at Coldspring Campground. Pro tip: the campsites at the far end (#30-44) are farther from the highway and more secluded. It was a nice campground and conveniently located within the park – close the Lightning Lake day use area and Manning Resort, where there is a general store and a good source of fresh water (the wells in the campground had a boil water advisory).

Canadian Veggie 
I went to Manning for the first time over the Canada Day long weekend. I’m surprised more people don’t go there given the proximity. I would even consider going backpacking solo since Greyhound drops off there.
The plan was to take Skyline II to Mowich camp, continuing on to Skagit Valley and ending at Sumallo Grove. Unfortunately it was a very challenging hike with tons of snow — note to self: do not alpine hike the Canada Day long weekend. We had to camp on the side of Lone Goat Mountain and turn back the next day.

We saw a few snowy patches but nothing to slow us down. We didn’t do any bouncountry but I would like to one day.
We saw the greyhound pull into Manning Resort. Can’t think of too many other back country by bus possibilities in BC.
