Planning a Pokemon Party

Happy Birthday

Astrid asked for a Pokemon-themed party for her 7th birthday. It was a big hit and the kids had a blast.

Decorating the Cake

Astrid was very involved in the party planning – she made the piñata, decorated the cake, and helped choose the activities.

The party was in our local park and we had mini-games for the kids to play.

Pokemon Party Ideas

One thing that worked well was giving the kids empty loot bags when they arrived. As they completed activities, they got items to put in their loot bags – like Pokemon cards, Pokeballs, and figurines.

We found bundles of used Pokemon cards and figurines online that were perfect for hiding in trees for a scavenger hunt, giving away as prizes, and stuffing into a piñata.

Pokemon Worksheets
Word searches and mazes occupied the kids while everyone arrived
Food Station
Drinks and snacks kept those sugar levels up
Instructions
Astrid designed and ran a game of Pokemon Tag, which involved a lot of running around and throwing pokeballs
Parachute
Parachute games offered some variety but not everyone was into it
Smash
Homemade piñata full of candy and small figurines – it quickly fell from the tree but everyone got two whacks and no one got hurt, so we’ll call that a success
Hammock
The kids had plenty of free time to climb trees or relax in the hammock
