Here are my favourite vegan and vegan-friendly restaurants in Vancouver. If you want more than my opinion, Happy Cow is a great resource.

Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants

All of these excellent restaurants are vegan, or vegetarian with extensive vegan options.

  • Acorn – The best vegetarian fine dining in Vancouver.
  • Budgie’s Burritos – Funky vegetarian burrito shop in the heart of Mount Pleasant.
  • Burrow – My all-time favourite lunch (or dinner) is a Ronny Russell burrito.
  • Chickpea – Awesome restaurant that also has a roaming foodcart. The portions are huge. Has a kids menu.
  • Cider House – A lovely spot near kits beach for a flight of cider and a vegan dinner.
  • COFU Sushi – Fancy pressed sushi.
  • Do Chay – Elevated vegetarian Vietnamese. The coconut rice cakes are divine.
  • Folke – Try the 6 course tasting menu.
  • Kokomo – Delicious vegan bowls and rich shakes. My daughter loves the poutine.
  • Meet on Main – Vegan burgers and bowls that are always a hit.
  • Ogenki Vegan Sushi – When you want something fancier than an avacado roll.
  • Sun Bo Kong – Vegetarian Cantonese food with fake meat dishes (Po Kong across the street is similar)
  • Vegan Shoku Japanese – Luxury Vegan sushi in Kerrisdale.
  • Viet Family – Delicious vegan vietnamese food on Commercial Drive.
  • Virtuous Pie – The best vegan pizza in town with original flavours.

Vegan Cafes and Bakeries

  • AM Cafe – Cute cafe off of Broadway with a breakfast and lunch options
  • Bonus Bakery – Delicious cookies, cakes, cronuts, and croissants.
  • Level V – Desserts and fancy cakes
  • To Live For – Try the croissants and soft serve.

Vegan-Friendly Restaurants

Special mention for these places that aren’t 100% vegan but have lots of options.

  • CHAU Cafe – No longer all vegan, but they have a lot of options. Rickety Rickshaw is a fave.
  • Nuba – Try Najib’s Special (deep-friend cauliflower). Multiple locations across the city.
  • House of Dosas – Open 24 hours and packed on Mondays when dosas are only $5.99.

In Memoriam (No Longer Open)

  • Radha Yoga & Eatery – Closed 2011
  • Foundation – Closed 2017
  • Umaluma Gelato – Closed 2022
  • Cartems Donuterie – Closed 2025
  • MILA – Closed 2025
  • Meet in Gastown – Closed 2025
  • Meet in Yaletown – Closed 2025

    • Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve only been to Dharma Kitche once, and that was years ago but I remember it being good. There’s so much good vegetarian food close by that I don’t make the trek that far west very often.
I have been to the Naam a handful of times and I’ve left disappointed each time. I’ve always found the food kind of bland. But the place is always packed, so there’s obviously a lot of people who disagree with me.
I’ve been to the Hornby location for Shizen Ya a few times. I agree, it’s an excellent sushi place. I like that they call out the vegetarian items on their menu.

Do you know any bulk places for grocery shopping please?

    • Cool. I updated the list to remove a few of the recently closed restaurants and add some of my favourite new spots.
For bulk groceries, try Famous Foods on Kingsway.
For yoga, there are a million options, including a lot of dedicated yoga studios and community centres that offer yoga classes. I don’t have a particular recommendation.

      Enjoy your visit.
