Anyone listened to the new Arcade Fire album yet? Is it as good as the hype? I’ve only heard one track that was featured on a CBC radio 3 podcast.
I can’t believe how well the album is doing. On Last.fm, 8 songs from the album have been in the Top 10 tracks listened to for the past 2 weeks. I thought it was the indie bias of the website, but even Amazon has it as the number one selling album right now. I’ll have to follow the hype and check it out.
I’ve listened to it a disturbing amount of times already (20+ for each track, according to iTunes). Keep in mind that this sort of melodramatic alt/prog/rock is right up my alley.
I think the tracks most likely to grab you right away are: Intervention (4), and No Cars Go (10).
The whole album is excellent though, with the possible exception of the last track.
Also, JP is not listing the Arcade Fire as one of his favourite bands on Facebook, so I believe this means the Indie community backlash has begun.
